A few years ago, then JTSD student Reznick Crawford saw people going hungry in our community and wanted to do something about it. After talking with his principal, Dr. Jennifer Chastain, about using their school garden to help with the problem, they got ahold of the McCauley Foundation, who took the reins on the project and ran with it. Now, six years later, after a large donation from the USDA, the junior high is home to a self-sustaining aeroponic farm that is supplying fresh food to Least of These. Horticulture teacher Allan Blaue and his students are learning how this innovative technology works while feeding the hungry in our area. Thank you to the McCauley Foundation, the USDA, T-Mobile, Bass Pro Shops, MFA Oil, White River Electric Cooperative, and Grow Hope Farms for your support of this project!

Last week, the Nixa Special Olympics Team and Unified Partners hosted a flag football game. It was played a few days before the backyard brawl rivalry game against Ozark. At this game, though, the fans cheered for everyone on the field. The final score was irrelevant. All that mattered was that the kids had fun, their families cheered for them, and everyone left with an incredible feeling. The organizers would like to thank Dr. Brandon Clark for his support and all the parents for bringing their kids to the practices leading up to the game.

The 4th annual Early Childhood Community Helper Night was a great success. Lots of families enjoyed seeing their little ones climb on, over, and through the various trucks, tractors, and vehicles they see on the street every day. The event organizers hoped to connect families so they could get to know each other better. Thank you to the Christian County Ambulance District, the city of Nixa, and everyone who came out and showed off their big rigs!
