• Whether you can serve one hour or several hours a week, there are many flexible opportunities available to utilize skills and experience you have gained to help others.  Through VIPS (Volunteers In Public Schools), Nixa Schools could use your help to make a difference in a student’s life.  Individuals are needed in such areas as assisting with the school’s operation and increasing student achievement through tutoring, preparation of instructional materials, teacher assistance, FEMA safe rooms, and so much more.

Do I need to register to volunteer for Nixa Schools?

Per district policy GBEBC: The district will conduct background checks for each volunteer who has regular and frequent contact with students, unsupervised or one-on-one contact with students, or serves in a supervisory role. A criminal background check will be conducted on these volunteers regardless of their role, membership, or affiliation with organizations who exist to support the district, such as the PTA. This also includes all volunteers who attend field trips with students. If the volunteer is a sponsor, advisor, or coach of a district sponsored activity, he or she must complete the criminal background check required of employees.

If you are interested in volunteering through VIPS, please complete two simple steps:

    1. Complete the online Volunteer Application.

    2. Everyone must complete step 1 before completing step 2. Complete the online background check application.

Once your application and background check have been processed the district volunteer coordinator will contact you regarding placement and training.  Volunteers must complete all steps PRIOR to beginning work in the district.
