Literature and Composition is divided into two distinct semesters and emphasizes critical reading and writing skills. In English 200, students will explore how literature reflects social values and ethics. Through reading, discussion, and analysis, students will improve critical-thinking skills and prepare for college-level writing. In English 110, students will develop college-level writing skills through the composition process by working on argumentation, rhetorical analysis, and editing for clarity, style, and conventions. Students should be prepared to work independently.
Students may earn English 200 dual credit upon successful completion of first semester and English 110 dual credit upon successful completion of second semester. This class is recommended for students who plan to attend a four-year college.
