Prerequisites: Minimum of 80% in both semesters of student's most recent English class.
Journalism combines instruction and guided practice to introduce students to basic skills needed to write, photograph, and design for print and online publications. Students will learn how journalistic laws and ethics apply to journalism. First semester covers journalistic principles and practices; second semester requires application of these principles. Students are required to conduct interviews, meet deadlines, photograph extracurricular activities, reflect on current events, and learn the basics of Photoshop and InDesign to design newspaper and yearbook pages. This class is a prerequisite for Advanced Journalism.
