• CALLING ALL NIXA FAMILIES!

    SHAC presents...

    S.H.A.C. - Nixa Iron Chef Competition 2021

    Iron Chef

Year nine of the S.H.A.C.-Nixa Iron Chef is a new style, with new rules, and a new format. To submit your entry into the competition please visit this link (also located at the bottom of this page).

    Iron Chef - New Style

    This year's competition is:

    • Online only (no “live” event this year)
    • Family teams vs. our previous student teams by grade level
      • One family = One team
      • A family team can be a parent(s) along with any ages & number of their own family members (Nixa students) within grades 1-12
      • No friends joining a family team…we are staying COVID safe and just cooking as a family this year
    • All family teams that want to compete simply submit your Iron Chef entry form (no sign-up lottery with a limited set amount of teams this year)
    • This year's theme is Fresh Scrambled Eggs
    • The secret ingredient is – sharing a brief description of how you prepare your scrambled eggs along with your family’s signature style, flavoring, hints, tricks, or techniques that set your scrambled eggs apart and make them crave-worthy on your entry form submission.
    • Submit one photo of your finished/plated scrambled eggs to teresabrown@nixaschools.net

The goal of this year's Iron Chef is for families to share the pure joy of cooking together.  Scrambled eggs are an ideal platform for this, as everyone can learn a “go-to” scrambled egg recipe they can quickly & easily whip up for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Gather your family, submit your Iron Chef entry form by noon on Friday, March 26. Let your inner Iron Chef shine bright and have fun cooking together! S.H.A.C. will announce the family team champions on Monday, April 5.

    Details

    • The 2021 Iron Chef theme is Secret of the Scrambled Egg
    • This is an online-only event this year – S.H.A.C. judges will NOT be tasting any scrambled egg creations – S.H.A.C. will be judging your provided photo and corresponding description to determine the family champions
    • S.H.A.C. judges will be looking for the following criteria, to determine the family champions:
      • The brief description conveying the signature techniques, preparation, hints & taste of your crave-worthy scrambled eggs
      • The photo of your signature scrambled eggs
    • This is not about adding a ton of crazy flavors to scrambled eggs - it is about a secret (technique, ingredient, style) that makes your family scrambled eggs incredible
    • Flavor your signature scrambled eggs however you desire – try to keep them healthy and not expensive or too complicated
    • There is not a set number of servings – simply prepare whatever you would serve your family
    • No actual “recipe” with amounts is required – all S.H.A.C. asks is that each family provides a brief description of how you prepare your scrambled eggs along with your signature style, flavoring, hints, tricks, techniques that set your scrambled eggs apart and make them crave-worthy plus one finished photo
    • Each family team must complete the Iron Chef entry form to include their brief description and one photo, by noon on Friday, March 26

    Rules:

    • Must use fresh eggs or fresh egg whites (NO eggbeaters, liquid eggs, or faux eggs) – think cracking open fresh eggshells for your scrambled egg creation
    • Your scrambled eggs creation should have an original, modern & creative Iron Chef “healthful” spin on it
    • Your scrambled eggs creation can be cooked in whatever you prefer – sauté pan, skillet, electric griddle, microwave, oven, or something else (think simplicity though)
    • Your scrambled eggs creation should be easily replicated at home, by other families that may try to make your creation; along with using easy to find & affordable ingredients
