Mrs. Jackie Collins

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jackie Collins

I am excited to begin my 26th year of teaching!  Teaching is my passion, and I feel fortunate to be a part of the amazing staff at John Thomas School of Discovery.  I graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  I was a second grade teacher for nine years at Willard South Elementary.  During that time, I completed a Master of Science in Education and a Reading Specialist Certificate.  I went on to become a certified  Reading Recovery teacher, and recently completed a Dyslexia training through the University of Arkansas.  I hope that I can help instill the love of reading into all the students I am forunate enough to work with.

In December of 2015 I celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary with my husband Steve.  Steve is a firefighter with the Nixa Fire Department.  We have one son, Payton Collins.  As a parent of a senior in high school, I can honestly say I know how quickly time passes!
