    Last Day of School

    Our last day of school will be a 1/2 day on Friday, May 19th with dismissal at 12:45.  Students should bring a large bag to take home all of their belongings including their grade card.

     

    Big Event

    During the Big Event on Thursday, students could get wet.  Students may bring a change of clothes.  Please have students wear tennis shoes and clothes that can get dirty.  Students will not be able to share sunscreen, so please send some iwth your child with his/her name on the bottle.

    At Home Challenge

    Students should complete the math problem below on a piece of paper and show their work.  Any student who turns in the correctly completed problem with their name added by Wednesday, May 10th will earn a prize.

    Today, students turned in their chromebooks and chargers to school for the end of the school year.  Please ensure your child has returned her/his chromebook and charger to school.

    At Home Challenge:

    Students should complete the following problem on paper.  Any student who turns in the completed problem on paper by Tuesday, May 2 with their name on it will have a prize.  Mrs. Volce spent $6.26 at Wal-Mart and $26.02 at Target.  If she had a $50 Visa gift card that she used at  both places, how much does she still have left on the gift card?

     

    MAP Field Trip

    MAP Testing starts Tuesday!

    Monday:  Measurement and Data

    Wednesday:  Numbers in Base Ten

    MAP Testing

    At Home Challenge

    Students are encouraged to continue to read and work toward Math goals at home this week.  I would like everyone to continue working in the Geometry domain, unless I have spoken to individual students to set different goals if they have completed the Geometry domain.  Way to go, Aiden M., Joanna, and Layton!  All three of these students have completed the Operations and Algebraic Thinking domain on frontrowed.com, which means they were working at a 5th grade level on that program!  :)

     

    Move-A-Thon

    Thanks so much for your participation in the Move-a-Thon.  What a fun event!  We'll be tallying and determining how many prizes we need to order Monday after school, so be sure to send in any funds by Monday.  Thank you!

    At Home Challenge

    Students are encouraged to continue to read and work toward Math goals at home this week.  Most students are working in the Measurement and Data domain on frontrowed.com, but several may be working in other domains if they have completed the Measurement and Data domain.  Most improved this week over Spring Break was Eli in Measurement and Data.  Way to go, Eli!

    On Thursday, March 23rd, Mathews will hold its fourth annual "FUN-draiser"--the Move-a-Thon!  Students will want to wear tennis shoes and be prepared to be outside for 50 extra minutes!  Students brought home pledge forms and envelopes to collect donations.  In addition, an informational flyer was sent home.

    At Home Challenge

    This week, we move into a unit in Measurement and Data.  Therefore, as goals are met in Fractions, we will begin setting new goals in Measurement and Data.  Your child will work in Measurement and Data during his/her free time at school, and he/she is also encouraged to work at least one session at home each evening.  

     

    Spring Break

    We will be on Spring Break from Friday, March 10th-Friday, March 17th.  Our first day back to school after Spring Break will be Monday, March 20th!
