Art Club

Cooking Club

Description: This club is for any student interested in cooking and having fun with other NHS students. All skill levels are welcome. It’s a great time to learn and practice new cooking skills, try a variety of foods, and have fun in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

DECA

Description: DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is an association of marketing students that encourages the development of business and leadership skills through academic conferences and competitions. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

Description: Drama Club was created to bring students together in theatre to promote social collaboration in creative thinking and communication through performance, directing, design, and technical aspects. Dungeons & Dragons Club

Description: The Dungeons and Dragons Club is a student-friendly club where we play a pen-and-paper version of the greatest role-playing game of all time! D&D is a collaborative storytelling game where one person plays the narrator and supporting cast while everyone else plays a main character.

Description: Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life—planning, goal-setting, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication—necessary in the home and workplace.

Health Organization Students of America (HOSA)

Description: HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

Math Competitive Team

Description: We meet and discuss contest math problems during practices. We have contests once or twice a month, with State being at the end of April for those who qualify.

National Art Honor Society

Podcasting

Description: What makes for a good listen? Is it the story? The narrator? The background music or sounds? How do you keep listeners wanting to come back and hear more? Students will have the opportunity to learn about how to make podcasts. Students will write scripts, practice, and record their own podcasts! Students will be able to enter their podcasts into contests.

Popular Science/ Science Fair

Description: Students will research and discuss current science trends and research. Students can also do personal research and experiments on current science topics and enter their research into science competitions of various types.

Description: Our club focuses on student-led, inquiry-based, practical applications of science. We will monitor water quality of a local stream through the Missouri Stream Team as well as maintain a set of raised bed gardens on school grounds.

Description: This club is for anyone interested in sewing--beginner to advanced. There are no prerequisites to join--it is for anyone. The members of the club will work on a few new sewing skills at the beginning of each meeting and then proceed to work on one of the projects planned out at the beginning of the year.

Spanish Club

Description: This club offers activities for students interested in learning more about Hispanic culture and doing hands-on activities and field trips. We celebrate holidays from Spanish-speaking countries, create authentic crafts, have game days, and usually have a field trip or two throughout the school year. There is always food to celebrate each holiday!

Spanish Honor Society

Meeting Info: This varies greatly. We have a couple of meetings each semester, plus induction ceremonies after school. Everything else we do is volunteer activities around the community that happen at various times throughout the year.
Description: Spanish Honor Society is a group of students that are dedicated to supporting the Spanish language and culture in our community. Students tutor their peers that need help with their Spanish assignments or studying for tests. Students also volunteer around the Springfield metro area to give back to our community, with an emphasis on helping Hispanic families in the area.

Description: The Thespian Club is an honor society for theatre arts students. Students must earn 10 points to be eligible for thespians. Points are earned through participating in productions onstage and/or backstage. Thespians are eligible to attend the yearly State Conference and participate in Individual Events, Technical Challenges, and Scholarship Auditions.

Description: Writers' Guild is a club where students write, revise, share, and receive guidance for expressing their individuality by composing creative works through the forms of poetry, short stories, drama, personal essays, and even novels.
