As part of the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004, school districts that participate in the National School Lunch and/or School Breakfast Program are required to have a local wellness policy that promotes student health and addresses concerns about childhood obesity. The Nixa SHAC was assembled during the fall of 2005 to develop such a policy. The current wellness policy was approved by the Nixa Board of Education on July 13, 2006.

As with any new policy or procedure, there are always critics. We understand that everyone may not fully agree with each decision that is made. We do, however, hope you realize that each decision was made with the best interests of your child at heart. We promise to listen to any comment or suggestion and give it every consideration. We thank you for your time, your understanding, and your support.

Most meetings will be held on the last Monday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at Faught Administrative Center, 301 S. Main, Nixa MO. We encourage community participation and input.
