Nixa High School's 2nd-year a-cappella vocal group, Nixapella, has been selected to perform at the 2024 Varsity Vocals ICHSA (International Championship of High School A Cappella) Midwest Quarterfinal on February 18th at Liberty High School in Liberty, MO. This is the same competition featured in the movie 'Pitch Perfect,' and is the second year Nixapella has made the quarterfinals.

Nixa Chamber Singers were selected to perform at the Southwest ACDA Conference. They were chosen among some of the finest ensembles in the country to perform. Their performance will take place in early March. They are presenting a full concert program for the nation's finest and most involved choir directors.

JTSD
- Through a partnership with James River Basin to learn about water quality and conservation, JTSD 5th grade students designed the artwork for the City of Nixa’s new street sweeper.
- JTSD completed their second round of Strategic Planning which included all teachers and several parents to guide our continued growth over the next 5 years.
- Two teachers participated in year 1 of a multi-year MSU (NSF grant-funded) Educational Coding project that will increase emphasis on computer science at JTSD.
- JTSD Discovery Singers were selected as one of only three elementary choirs to perform at the upcoming MMEA state music conference in January. They were also selected to perform at the MSBA state conference in November in KC.

- Spring Conferences and Showcase Nights…our building was FULL of parents and families. Our one-night only “Pop-UP Book Fair” sold over $8,000 in books and merchandise.
- Kindergarten and 1st Grade Evaluate Data… both grade levels started in the mid-50's for Math and finished in the mid-80's (1st grade is 84% Advanced) (kindergarten is 83% Advanced)... close to 30% increase in scores from Form A to Post Test. Also, ELA from Form A (1st grade 63%) (K 54%) and Post Test (1st grade 84%) (K is 83%) both in the Advanced ranges. Students made great gains from the beginning of the year.
- The Century Choir performed at the Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Nixa X Center and sang the national anthem at a Nixa varsity baseball game.
High Pointe

- Continued development of PLC and the PLC process. Our current focus is on implementation of RTI and discussion of best instructional practices to facilitate high levels of learning.

- Served over 1 million hot meals safely during the pandemic. Student meal prices that were waived by the USDA saved our community over $2,000,000. At the same time, Nixa’s Food Service fund balance increased by over $1,000,000
- While mitigating food, supply, and staff shortages, some of our buildings’ participation rate is as high as 80%, helping in Nixa’s win against food insecurity
- Received perfect scores throughout the district on unannounced health inspections by CCHD, and perfect scores by our third party Health and Safety auditor, Ecosure.
- Celebrated National School Lunch Week with Battle of the School Lunches on Instagram, and the winner this year was Pizza filled Bosco sticks!
- Received 2 Double-Gold audit scores from Ecosure, Sodexo’s third-party company used to assess compliance with food safety and environmental/health safety policies and standards.
- Due to participation in USDA waivers from the number of meals served times the federal reimbursement rates, generated 1.25 million dollars for Nixa’s food service fund balance in the 2021-22 school year
- Also due to participation in USDA waivers, saved Nixa families 1.75 million dollars worth of breakfast and lunch money this year
- Mitigated 6.4% inflation (highest 12-month cost of food increase since 1982), supply chain shortages, and competitive labor market (against Missouri’s 4th annual mandatory minimum wage increase) to achieve these results for our students

- Missouri Afterschool Network selected XLT to host a visit from Secretary of State, Mr. John Ashcroft during the Light’s On Afterschool celebration.

- XLT was selected by the Missouri Afterschool Network (MASN) to host the Secretary of State, Jay Ashcroft, to represent afterschool programming in Southwest Missouri in October.
- XLT and Eagle Care applied and were awarded a total of $533,680.00 in PPP Funds from DESE to help aid the recovery from the pandemic.

- 8 students qualified for DECA nationals in Orlando, Florida. Michael Meads and Sophie Jackson were International Finalists for Travel and Tourism Team Decision Making Event. Mark Meads and Carson Young placed in the Top 10 for their performance for Business Law and Ethics Team Decision Making Event. International delegations that competed at DECA ICDC included: Canada, China, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Spain, and the United States. DECA had a record number of members participating at Internationals this year with over 20,000 students.
- Joy Worthley designed and built a ukulele and was named the Woodworking II State Champion in the Technology Association of Missouri District Contest.
