Education is at the heart of all the things we do, and while everyone sees the national performances at Aetos, behind the scenes students are learning. Nixa students gain experience learning in a first-class facility, but they also gain experience working the professional shows that come through Nixa. From unloading trucks to working backstage during the live shows and everything in between, our students are doing things that seemed unreachable just a few years ago. And, they can take that experience and use it after high school in their professional lives. So, next time you are in the Meridian Title Company Performance Hall, know there is a lot of learning going all around.

- HIGH POINTE
About three years ago, High Pointe started a program where teachers are observed by their team members. While having other colleagues in your class may be intimidating, the teachers say the benefits outweigh any reservations they experience. Afterward, they come together to offer feedback. The staff raves about the program and says they have seen tremendous growth in each other through the process.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Caitlynn Dillard's kindergarten class had some fun with gingerbread men who went missing. The kids read books, baked cookies, and then had special visitors from the Nixa Fire Protection District and Ozark Police who taught them about being safe at home. It was a memorable time for the young ones during the holiday season.
- JUNIOR HIGH
Starting a new school can be a scary process for any child. The staff at the junior high saw this and wanted to ease some of their anxiety by pairing new students with student ambassador leaders at the school. The result is a fantastic program that allows kids to take a little ownership of the building and gives them the confidence to navigate their new surroundings.

The Nixa Care to Learn chapter has existed since 2009, and in that time, the need for assistance with health, hunger, and hygiene has greatly increased. This year alone, CTL is helping more than 400 students a week with its food bag program. Thank you to the dedicated volunteers who pack those bags.

Wanting to reward students who are doing well in their classes, the high school developed a plan to offer them a chance to try something different during their STAR time. Students could head over to the Aetos lobby to try their hand at some theatre games, or if they wanted to work off a little energy, Coach Blansit held some scrimmages. Other options included brushing up on their upcoming ACT test and a fun art activity in the library.

The Espy leadership team was asked to paint the windows at Nixa City Hall for the holidays. Snowflakes, Christmas trees, and snowmen were just a few of the designs the kids chose. In addition to their work at city hall, the team helps out around the school, emptying recycling bins and doing general cleaning. This season, they are also collecting toys for needy families in the Nixa area.

The Eagles' season ended last Friday night with a loss to De Smet in the state finals. After an undefeated regular season, a district championship, and defeating Lee's Summit North and Kirkwood, the Eagles finished with a 13-1 record and have so much to be proud of. The players and coaches want to thank the Nixa community for the incredible support all year long. Go Eagles!

In what has become a tradition at Century, the whole school lines the hallways for a parade on the day before Thanksgiving break. This parade features the second-grade classes, who have been working on creating a balloon inspired by the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, held every year in New York City.
