Nixa School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) Information

Nixa School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)

S.H.A.C.

OUR MISSION:

The SHAC (School Health Advisory Council) is a Nixa Public Schools volunteer-based wellness advisory council comprising parents, school staff, community members, and students working collectively to promote initiatives that strengthen the connection between health and learning. The primary purpose is to establish whole school, whole child, whole community strategies and engaging events via an integrated approach to nutritional, physical, and emotional well-being that inspires a lifetime of healthy behaviors.

Our History:

The NPS SHAC was initially assembled during the fall of 2005 to develop a wellness policy per the requirements of the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004. Over the years, SHAC has planned and implemented fun and engaging events like the Gobble Gallop and the Culinary World Showcase (formerly known as the Iron Chef Competition).

Most meetings will be held on the last Monday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at Faught Administrative Center, 301 S. Main, Nixa MO.

We encourage community participation and input.
